The Caribbean Planning for Adaptation to Global Climate Change Project (CPACC), is assisting Caribbean countries in preparation to cope with the adverse effects of global climate change (GCC). A priority concern is sea level rise in coastal areas, for which vulnerability assessment, adaptation planning, and capacity building linked to adaptation planning, will be undertaken.  In 1998 the data centre established links with CPACC  - in particular the Component 5 - which focuses on assessing the impacts of global warming on coral reefs. There were natural synergies in this relationship primarily based on the Centre for Marine Sciences’ research expertise, and the data centre's data management capabilities and CPACC’s emphasis on capacity building within the region.

CCDC has responsibilities for:

  • archiving of the CPACC Video transecting data from its three pilot countries: Bahamas, Belize and Jamaica,

  • providing operational support to the data analyst and facilitating communication and report generation.
